Good at your trade. No network yet?
Just started on your own, or coming from employment? Your trade experience counts, even if your business is new. You do need a KvK registration and a VAT number. Create your free profile with your specialisms, your area and photos of work you did yourself. When you respond to a job, the agency sees what you can do, not who you know. Join an experienced sign installer as their buddy and you do your first jobs together. Jobs through Signborn open region by region. We don't promise work.
What jobs you'll find on Signborn
- Advertising agencies, sign companies and exhibition stand builders post installation, lettering, wrap and stand-building jobs: from a three-hour job to a rollout over several days. For every job you see the estimated hours, the location and the budget before you respond. You only respond to what you want to do.
- Signborn opens matching region by region. As soon as your region is open, you get a notification for jobs that match your skills, certificates and working radius. Already work with an agency? Then they can invite you into their own network now.
- Jobs are never public: they contain client details. You only see them once you've registered and your profile is approved.

Frequently asked questions
What should a self-employed sign installer charge per hour?
You decide. Hourly rates are usually between €35 and €75 excl. VAT, depending on specialism and certificates. That's roughly €280 to €600 for an eight-hour day. The rates page lists guide prices per specialism.
What do I need to sign up?
You sign up with your name, email and postcode. Then you fill in your KvK (Chamber of Commerce) number and VAT number. Without those two you cannot finish your profile. You don't need insurance yet. To respond to jobs you also need valid public liability insurance with care, custody and control cover. You add it to your profile later. You choose your specialisms and upload at least two photos of your own work. Certificates such as VCA are optional but improve your chances.
Can I work part-time?
Yes. You set your own availability. Even 1 day a week is possible.
When do I get paid?
The agency pays within the agreed term of 14 or 30 days, straight into your IBAN. Your invoice is ready and pre-filled with your hours and costs as soon as the agency approves the handover (within 48 hours, otherwise automatically). You check it and send it. No money runs through Signborn and Signborn deducts nothing. Agency paying late? Then we send them a reminder and you get a ready-made payment demand.
Can I sign up if I call myself a lettering installer or a sign fitter?
Yes. Sign installer, sign fitter, lettering installer, vinyl applicator or signage fitter: when you sign up, you simply choose the skills that match your work, from full-colour vinyl application to facade signage at height. Agencies search by skill, not by job title.
What jobs are there for self-employed sign fitters?
Mostly installation: facade signs, light boxes, built-up letters, wayfinding and removal. Also vinyl lettering, vehicle wraps and stand building. Agencies that invite you can already send you their jobs. Jobs from new agencies come region by region, once your region opens. We do not promise work.
Is Signborn a staffing or secondment agency?
No. Signborn is an intermediary platform. As a sign installer you remain self-employed, with your own KvK registration and your own rate, and for each job you make an agreement directly with the agency. Signborn is not a party to carrying out the work.
